Matariki Native Plant Giveaway with Community Waitākere in less than two weeks! Come on down to the Blockhouse Bay Community Centre on Wednesday 24 June between 1pm – 5pm to meet with Community Waitakere and grab some free native plants, free tools and resources, and learn how to ID and tackle weeds at your place! Come and see our team at the Blockhouse Bay Community Market on the 27th of June from 9am - 12pm where we will kick off our Matariki Star Quest! The whetū have journeyed from the winter sky into Blockhouse Bay Village and it’s up to you to find them before they disappear! From 27 June to 9 July, whānau are invited to discover the nine stars of Matariki hidden throughout the village and learn the stories they carry. The journey concludes with a free community celebration on 9

With the end of the year fast approaching, our Centre will be closing it's doors for a bit longer than usual. As always, our last day will be on the 19th of December 2025 so our amazing staff and volunteers can take a well deserved break over the holidays however we will remain closed until the 2nd of March 2026 due to renovations taking place.
